title: Hello
date: Friday, February 18, 2011
time:4:39 PM
I guess there are quite abit of cobwebs lying around my blog now that it has probably been almost half a year since I blogged.

Well, life has been hmmm fine. From what I can say. Good and bad things come my way. So I cant really say I am fully satisifed with life now. Well, as much as you can guess, I've been dancing but not as much as Dawn. Decent amount still since there are other important stuff that matters to me.

Recently, there has been quite alot going on around me and I am happy that there are friends who give me advices and such. You know who :) heh...But time will heal I think.

date: Friday, August 27, 2010

In less than two weeks, school reopens for me. I can sense the similar stress coming towards my direction just like the days when I was in secondary and junior college. The expectations and the challenges awaits. Yikes...

Nevertheless, it is the start of something new. I should look forward to it.

title: NBS camp 2010
date: Tuesday, July 27, 2010
time:11:56 AM
Before everything in my memory gets wiped out, I shall blog about the most recent and most unforgettable experience of my life. In addition, I provide free entertainment to my boss - Mr YY. :P

Anyway, the 5-day camp was hell tiring. By the last few days of the camp, I was already a walking zombie that shifted around mindlessly.

Day 1

This was the dirtiest day ever. According to the seniors, the camp will gradually get cleaner. Indeed, it is true so the dirtiest day is absolute yucky. We were brought to a field with lots of grass *note LOTS of GRASS. My OG's first game already made us significantly dirty - we had to slide across a canvas sheet splashed with raw eggs, soy sauce, mud etc. and what not. Yucks!!

The subsequent games were not much better with some that needed the girls to dip their long hair into squid water (there is really a squid in the pail). That stinks man. There is smacking flour and tomato sauce on other people's faces as well as pouring raw eggs in the hair of another (this is really the ultimate).

By the time the games were over, the field transformed into a mud land with my grass. haha

Thinking that we could bathe, all of us were wrong. We only got to clean up with the little water we can find (since everyone was fighting for the hose or a place in the toilet to grab hold of water to wash off the cannot-be-washed-off stuff on our body). It was dinner after that.

Night games started about 8pm and ended at about 2am. It was pretty much the normal games except some unimaginable stuff like walking through the canal. We practically lift the lid of those drains that we walked over everyday on the streets and climbed down. With only two candles - the first and the last person, we walked for about 20mins. Nice experience. Another was the classic NTU lake which we were led to while blindfolded. I didn't buy the story that we had to slide down the lake cause the beneath of the lake is really dirty and unpredictable. They couldn't possibly risk the lives of the students. BUT we end up sliding down some freaking steep slope in NTU via a canvas sheet. It's like sliding from the height of the second storey of the school to the first. I screamed.....

Day 2

We had only an hour to bathe after the night games ended. After that we bused down to sentosa at an absurd time of 4am. We had less about 2hrs of sleep in a room in Costa Sands. Sounds decent right. But what if you squeezed 20 girls into a 2 single bedder room. I was literally sleeping on my back. I could not stretch my legs while sleeping. :(

After breakfast, we had sand games. This day was not as dirty as the previous day since we are only dealing with sand and seawater. Nothing much interesting to blog about anyway. After lunch was some cross-dressing skit thing that lasted till evening where we got to bathe.

After that, we bused down to a chalet near the Changi yacht club and had dinner. The night activity was fright night. It was that frightening, maybe at the beginning. But it was fine after that.

The most anticipated part has come and we finally got to sleep for the longest we ever had in this 5 days. About 4 hours of rest.

Day 3

POOL games!!! One of those that I enjoyed most and it is my element - water. haha. The rather challenging one was the confidence jump where we had to jump down 3m high. There was an optional jump from 5m high.

After dinner was the performance night. The theme was Lady Gaga meets K-pop. Magnus won the first for the performance while our sister OG Regna won first for the cheers.

Next, we had a short meet with our SP while being blindfolded. By then it was 1am and we bused to another chalet in Changi (again) NSSRC. Pretty nice a place to stay.

Day 4

Another interesting day where we walked around Bugis area in search for some of the nice food sold in Singapore. We have the wonderful Dou Hua - soft and nice, traditional desserts, chicken rice, Rojak, Minced pork noodles and more.

Night time was the SP night where we went out with out dates. The process where the guys had to get their girls was really amusing. It is as though the seniors were marrying off their own children. They were pretty harsh on the guys. heh...

After dinner with the SP, we head off to Butter Factory where we went back to our individual OGs to have fun till 3am.

Day 5

With little sleep, I really really shacked. We had a final telematch in school and after lunch there was a round off session before we break camp.

Was an interesting camp that I will do it once and never again. It is pretty insane not sleeping. And made me realised how much I missed sleeping. :)

title: BKK
date: Thursday, July 15, 2010
time:10:27 AM
I'm back again from not blogging for a long period of time. This morning I guess woke up from a nightmare. It was rather terrible since I was crying when I opened my eyes and made me realised how much I feel like seeing the person now. zzz...

Anyway, recently I just got back from my Bangkok trip with my mum.I must say that I will not miss any part of Bangkok except her food and super cheap clothes. Food, was one irritating one. For the first two days there, I was enjoying hot and spicy tom yam soup and those glass noodle salads that have vinegar in them. It took a troll on me and for the last two days, I was suffering from gastric pain. This was the worst I ever had and it came and go intermittently. The food there is really WOW. Yes, I know I didn't go and eat their cheap shark's fin soup or bird nest. But I didn't feel there was a need to. Their authentic Tom Yam soup is the one that I miss most.

SHOPPING: one word to describe "SHOIK". You really just buy without thinking. Did most of my shopping in Platinum Mall (the best choice over MBK and other malls). The way the shops are situated makes it easy and convenient to move from shops to shops and to ensure that you have covered all grounds. Don't think twice as if you want to go back to the shop I shall say good luck to you. It is really difficult to get back to the same store once you passed it. And the mall is six stories high. Imagine the amount of things to shop. :)

One thing I don't like about Thailand. The WEATHER. It is so damn hot. At 9am there, it feels much hotter than Singapore's afternoon sun. Coming back to SG seems much cooled in fact.

A place that I wished I could go is the lady boy street. Haven't experienced going there. zzz...

Oh well, when shall be my next BKK trip to shop crazily again :P

title: SFDF
date: Tuesday, June 22, 2010
time:3:34 PM
Wow it has been a long time since I blogged. Well, probably I have no inspiration to type anything that is interesting enough to read. So today's post shall be really random.

Of course the most happening event that took place recently was the SFDF graduation night. There were almost 18 items lined up for the audience. And I did nearly half the number of performances. Further elaboration can be found on Dawn's blog since both of us did the same things and had the same change area too...

It really funny how the body works where throughout the whole night where one keeps dancing non-stop and speed changing in between, we do not feel the tiredness. HOWEVER, the moment everything ended and you sit down to rest, your entire body feels limped and fatigue sets in. It's amazing how the adrenaline works to keep one filled with energy even though in actual fact is sooooo tired. Even up to today, I am still suffering from the effects of the lack of sleep. I really do need to catch up on that when my contract ends in 8 working days!! Yipee!!!

Since I will be jobless when July comes, naturally there will be activities lined up apart from sleeping. One of which is my Bangkok trip in early July where mum and I will be there shopping. Ha...I must really say a big thank you to the huge civil distress that occurred over the few months such that there is going to be a major sales in Bangkok to revive the tourism economy. So cheap goods on discounts makes prices freaking low... WHOA (eyes bulging out).

Of course there is the NTU NBS camp coming up next on the whole third week of July. Personally, I kind of dread going for it. But, for the sake of building my social circle, it is deemed beneficial to me. hizz...hope the camp turns out well since it is going to be a solid five days event.

Another thing that I will look forward to is a new image. I will probably dye and give my hair waves in August, near to when my school is starting. OOoo...

title: ChinaOne a coffeeshop?
date: Thursday, May 20, 2010
time:2:21 PM
Yippee!! So happy...So many things happened this week and majority are good news. Of course, when there is good, there is bad. But I rather not think about them.

Today, I will probably go down to ChinaOne to celebrate for whatever I'm happy for. But the main reason for the gathering is to send of one of the xen peeps.

ChinaOne is really a random name to call a club. Initially when Emma said let's go to ChinaOne to hang out, I thought we were going to a coffee shop in Chinatown. haha... Naturally I feel that it was a really weird place to chill. And it was only on Tuesday that I realised what the real place was.

title: Office observation part 2
date: Wednesday, May 12, 2010
time:1:52 PM
Okie...really random post. But felt like typing nonsense. Here is part two of the "Observations in Office" post. This time my focus will be people in my room.

Being temporary staff of the company, most of us are not entitled to one cubicle to ourselves. Thus, we are grouped into small numbers and put in rooms. Recently, there was a reshuffle and one of my colleague went to another conference room and his seat was replaced by a rather odd fellow i must say.

He's English name is C******. Somehow, I think the name doesn't suit him at all. Whenever I see this name I get the impression of him being like the character in a show that is titled with his name. And what's more the Keane Reeves is one of my favourite actor since he is sooo hot. haha. And compared to the guy in my room, it is indeed two worlds' apart.

Anyway, that was abit of a side-track. Here is the main stuff. When he first entered the room. Another colleague of mine by the name of L introduced a really refreshing new game to him, NEOPETS. He was like that is so childish. Well, ya i have to admit since both guys are at the age of 21 where they are SUPPOSED to be more mature. But people get influenced, soon I think C dug out his old account or started a new one and played all the neopets games.

Practically, from the time he turns on his laptop till the free time he has in between work, I see the neopets website on his computer. Gone were the days where he just watched a movie. Gone were the days when he tried to influence me to watch them just like him.

This time, the new thing that he will try to promote is "Play neopets".

I'll go "...".

Oh well, this is just one typical observation of a cute (which he describe himself as) and MATURE young adult in the society today.

title: Swensen's
date: Sunday, May 09, 2010
time:9:34 PM
Yozz...

I'm blogging a really short post just after I removed the eye-irritating purple blogskin that I once had. And now I'm back to basics again with the white background. Really like the simplicity. When life is so terribly corrupted and with people that are full of ulterior motives.

Anyway, my life right now is really passing by at a rapid speed. Week after week passes by so fast. And every week is like another chapter. I'm happy with how things are progressing right now.

Yesterday, my clique had a mini gathering at Swensen's Ion. Really, Ion is like a maze where you have to walk roundS to get your bearings right. Anyway, we had the ice-cream buffet thing at the restaurant. There was a rather wide selection to pick from. But all had one thing in common. All the food were SWEET SWEET SWEET. Ice-cream, cakes, wafer, brownie, sweet toppings. All of them are sugar-loaded. And halfway through I had this throbbing pain in my head. I guessed it was either a sugar-rush or a brain-freeze. Thus, we ordered fries to counteract the effect since the dish was salty.

Most of us were cam-whoring. This time it's not me. MUHAHAHA. Ms Dawn is under the cam-whoring list for the reader's information. :P

It was indeed a rather enjoyable outing to meet up with the old friends. Next time, no more Swensen's okie...

title: My journey in ACTFA
date: Thursday, April 29, 2010
time:9:27 AM
Recently I have been writing essays for xen and one of which is about my journey n xen. This essay that I wrote is truely what I feel about the school and I shall publish it here...

"The year 2010 is almost the fourth year that I am with ACTFA. I remembered the first time I stepped into this school, I was a secondary student. And now, I am already waiting for my admission in to university. Time really flies and so has the amount of progress that ACTFA made over this period of time. I am one person who saw its growth over the years.

Climbing up the creaky wooden flight of stairs for my very first hip-hop class in a shop-house in Chinatown, Pagoda Street, ACTFA used to be known as Xenbar. The place compared to today’s location in Bukit Merah is two worlds apart. From the point of view of a parent, I think if you were to see the school in Chinatown, you will not even considering signing up your child for any dance classes there. The layout of the school was more mature where you have shady lights and elaborated decorated interior that creates a mood for couples and lovers to chill out.

Upon stepping into the entrance on a warm Saturday afternoon, the first thing I saw was a lady dancing some sort of dance with another guy. Moreover, I recalled seeing another man sitting along the stairways shouting and telling them what to do. Yes! The lady is our principle dancer in ACTFA, Yanqing and the man instructing them is Justin.

From there, my journey in ACTFA officially starts. I took on hip-hop classes on a weekly basis and would usually come in about two hours earlier to do my own self-practice as I was hooked to dancing.

Soon, Yanqing asked me to join the school’s salsa classes held at night. This school offers basic and intermediate salsa every night all these years. Their tradition never changed. Thus, everyone is able to make it to dance no matter how busy they are. Upon being exposed to salsa, I finally realized what Yanqing was dancing on my first day in ACTFA.

At that time, salsa was not as hyped up compared to today. And this school is one of those which found a niche in this scene and try to expand the salsa scene in Singapore. Indeed, ACTFA has achieved that as most of the students that it has trained are recognised in the salsa scene and are frequently sought after to social dance during salsa events.

I remembered the first few lessons of salsa, I wore a sport shoe to dance. I was a tat too clumsy and I felt slightly uncomfortable embracing a guy and dancing with a partner. However, in a few sessions, I got addicted to this dance and carried on signing up for their intermediate classes. Intermediate classes are always more interesting as they teach us on the different variations in salsa. In fact, the amount of moves you can think of is endless. People can always come up with new variations that are impressive and probably making them their signature moves.

What ACTFA could offer me did not end here. The school pushes for all their students to perform in their annual salsa congress to give them the exposure of standing on the stage. I feel that this helps me boost my self-confidence and stage presence. Be it dancing or in school, I am able to use this skill and apply it to my everyday life. My very first performance item was in Kallang theatre, doing a hip-hop routine. That very first experience standing on stage dancing was satisfying and scary. It was satisfying because I can never imagine myself standing on the stage dancing and it was scary for Kallang theatre is a huge space and the crowd watching us was pretty big.

Subsequently, ACTFA shifted to Bukit Merah Central with a studio space that is more than twice the size of the one in Chinatown.

Initially, the whole area was a mess with no mirrors installed on the walls and we had to dance on dusty cement floors that were not lined with parquet. Over time, the whole school transformed into one that is furnished with chairs and tables, a proper counter for students’ registration, equipped with numerous fans and air-conditioners and the mirrors and floor properly set up.

ACTFA also developed its line of products such as costumes for ladies and shoes for both males and females. Furthermore, students of the school are guaranteed progress in their dance caliber for the school provides a series of programs catered to the different standards of dancers. From the most elementary dancers to professional artists, ACTFA has a syllabus for each of them to improve from where they are.

Phew! The journey in this school has been an exhilarating one. I wonder what other things I can expect of ACTFA in the near future… "
