title: Sublime

Finally the whole SBDC thing has come to an end.Last night was the semi finals at Jurong Point.

For sublime, our theme this time was Tamil and the puppets. So the rest of us dressed like dolls with tutu dresses and had on this Gothic look. The teams who went into this round were really good. Some of them used the same music but improvised on the moves. Some of them came up with fresh ideas and even their costumes were really nice.

In my opinion, not trying to offend anyone, ours weren't as impactful. According to my parents, an audience point of view (ones that have no dance experience at all), felt that our item was way to monotonous. Plus, there were lots of crab-walks in our dance.

Our comments were rather neutral as a result. Cause our dance is pretty irrelevant. It has hip hop moves in it but somehow the outcome seemed bollywoodish and jazzy. The judges did not know how to comment due to the uniqueness of the dance. Thus, they end up talking about the UFO stunt and the prop (chair) which was flung to one side of the stage during the dance.

Oh well, this was an experience for me though. But next time if I were to join a competition again, I would think twice cause a competition is different from a performance. Especially in the genre or hip-hop, the audience do not look out for big moves. They look out for synchronisation and heavy-beat musics. Of course, big moves give us a plus point. But over-doing it is not the way to go.

Wee...bachata competition is the next obstacle

These few weeks of March is gonna be one hell of a ride. There is the SBDC, Bachata competition and my quarter-month overtime work at MS. So many things to do, so little time. What is worst, my eyes are starting to get black...Ahh

Last Saturday almost the whole xen was at Jurong Point to dance or support the three teams that were participating in the Singapore Best Dance Crew competition. I must say that this is actually the biggest hip hop thing in Singapore as the champions will represent Singapore in the World Hip hop competition in Las Vegas.

Our team, comprising Dawn, Tamil, Leticia, Angela and me did a very bollywood piece in outfits that resemble MIB. We had on black pants, jackets, ties and shades. Furthermore, our faces were painted black too. So we looked uniform and sometimes I cannot even identify myself in the video. Tension was rising high especially when our team was the second segment of the programme and while waiting in the humid open area, our painted faces were kind of washed-out. Finally, after our item, some comments we received were that our routine was rather jazzy and that our sunglasses hid out expressions which the judges wanted to see. On the other hand, we were commended on our uniqueness.

Unexpectedly, we got into the semi-finals. But there are other nine teams competing against us, so the odds of getting into finals are slim. Anyway, I just know that I have less sleep till Sunday.

So if this SBDC thing ends on Sunday, I still having my bachata routine with Roland that is pending ever since I started practising for the hip hop competition. We only have two weeks to finish the remaining of the song and to polish up. So rush....

And there is this issue of my month-end overtime at work which may start the next day after the SBDC competition which further reduces the time for my bachata practice.

Something random, I've got an interview with ntu nbs this Thursday into accountancy. I guess my results were not as impressive to allow me to get into the course without one. So hopefully the upcoming written test and interview will go well :)

Life will be better when April comes...

I guess it is rather anti-climax having to blog about my A levels at this point of time (since the results were released last Friday).

The feeling that I had just before I received my result slip was rather numb. It could be that it was just two years ago that I had gone through the similar procedure. OF COURSE, I did not want history to repeat itself for the third time where I had a sucky overall grade.

After the irritating and long-winded stupid talks by the teachers, we collected our results. Mr Tan had our slips turned, so one has to have the courage to flip it over and face the music. I really could not flip it over after two terrible experiences. But when he said I did not bad, I took a leap of faith and peeped at the piece of paper.

Surprisingly, my grades were not bad. Slightly disappointed the wrong question I chose for Chemistry paper 3 cost me a B. However, the trade-off was that my GP had an A. That is really really amazing for a person like me who is really bad at spelling and language related stuff.

Anyway, I hope my score allows me to get into the faculty that I want. As what my mum said:
Hope a miracle will happen.

Part 2 of my random post in Buffa's blog.

There is this guy friend whom I know off whose initials of his name is LSH. Ha... I wonder if he knows I am referring to him. Anyway, the first time I got to know him really well was when I graduated from Nan Hua. Ironically, for four years in the same school, I don't really bother to talk to him or anything.

Thus, in the short span of a few months due to dance, I knew him as a proper friend. I must say that this person is the weirdest one I know. He has this philosophical thing going around him and sometimes I find it hard to understand what point he is trying to put across.

Sadly, he disappeared in a few months time to some far away country...

Ha...so who is this person?
