Guess what miss buffa did today and yesterday...i'm sure no one will guess it right.

YES! I went to the movies on both days watching YES man and Twilight respectively.
I must say, YES man is really a must watch show for this season before the school starts. It's hilarious and light-hearted. I think it is one of the better shows i watched for a long time. Should go see it.

And of course there is the teenage girl flick, Twilight. The show is rather draggy at the front but towards the end, it was pretty interesting. Definitely there is the dating and the BGR thing since it's targeted at young teenage girls like us. ha...

Potato left me..sobs...for Germany :( Oh well

This hols is somewhat coming to an end. But it has been one of my most eventful one in my life. Let's recap:

Dancepointe performance
Genting trip representing JJC for an International Dance Competition
Impromptu belly-dancing performance at Gek Poh and Limbang Malls
Singapore Salsa Congress performance at xenbar for two nights
Wonderful social dancing on night 2 of the SSC
Three days of shopping with my mum and family
Watching two movies in two consecutive days

That should be it! What a ride. Next year is the most crucial one.

Wee...

PS: Today I was around Hereen and guess who i sawwww....
AMANDAAAA with a guyyyyy alone whom she claims is not her BF. Who knows *winks* haha...Hope she didn't see this...muhahaha

Yesterday was day 1 of the Singapore Salsa Congress. I wonder why it is called a congress which should mean there must be hundreds of people coming down to watch. The place ended up with 20 odd audiences and some of which might be the performers themselves.

Nevertheless, the show was on and our 4 girls hip-hop was the second item. On the whole, it was quite fine. I committed 2 large mistakes though. The develope in my solo was soooo out of balance. I was hopping around to gain my center of gravity. AND the high sch musical spilt jump. It SUCKED. I bent my knees. Never before it happened during practice.

Oh well...

Anyway, Angela and her sister, Melissa and her 2 other friends as well as long time no see yuzhu came down. haha... esp yz. Never see her for so long, I kind of miss her. Some of you reading this must be giving the face now. :P

The video of our dance is uploaded on youtube already:

It shows a short excerpt of some of the items yesterday namely belly dancing and jazz. Ours is in the middle but it the whole dance.

Social was after that. But the crowd had slowly diminished. There weren't alot of nice people to dance with. So yz and I spent the time observing people dancing and came up with lots of conclusions.
Joyce was i think the best dancer that night. Of course she isn't as skillful and graceful as yq, but she danced all out and styled alot in each social. Never saw her dance like that before. As for the guys, it has to go to Albert. His face may look stoned. But don't be deceived. First he may go slow. Suddenly, he will go here, there and there. And slow down again. He's super cool.

Tonight's NITE 2. I'll be doing pirate and penguin shines. Till then.

I'm back from my short 3-day stay in Fairmont. It was really sad to leave such a wonderful luxurious place.

Anyway, today I tried out the spa area with my mum. Inside were the uber icy cold pool and 2 quite warm jacuzzi, as well as the sauna and the steam room. WOW! The steam room is totally unlike the one in Genting. The moment mum and I enter it, it was already hot. I had to grope my way inside. Wondering if they have a thermostat, hot steam getting hotter just keeps emitting out. In Genting, the steam just comes out for a while and after that it stops. haha...for a moment I thought my life might just end there.

I left early for xen to practise our Friday's item. Going quite smoothly. So people, you must come see...

FRIDAY. 7.30PM. Bukit Merah Central. Singapore Salsa Congress. $15
per person Interested? Just tell me!!!

Anyway, let me update more on Jackie during the dancepointe performance day.

We had 2 shows right: Matinee and Gala. However, he proposed during the end of the gala. Being one of the directors of dancepointe, he had a chance to say a few words to the audience.

So he was like, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank my girlfriend (who is coincidentally Fiona, since he is Shek)."

Then, a ballerina came and gave his girlfriend a big teddy bear holding a bouquet of flowers which i think is chocolates instead. Ain't this SWEET.

The moment arrives, Jackie knelt down and pulled out a ring from his pocket. From the audience, I could see her crying. And so he proposed to her. Aww...

There is an unglam pic of Jackie and his "belly" as well as he(Shek) and girlfriend(Fiona).

Also, there are some pictures that were taken from both Limbang and Gek Poh Malls.

Lesson learnt from do belly-dancing in neighbood shopping malls. Cross-refencing to Dawn's blog where she posted the pic of the poster used to advertise, is meant to be some kids program. But why belly dance and not hip-hop, which is more farmiliar to young kids aged 7 to 9. Reason is to attract men with a mole slightly below their mouths, so more people can come watch the show. Really...

CHRISTMAS is round the corner peeps. Have you bought presents for Miss Buffa. If not, you better step up and get me one. muhahaha...Shall enjoy a nice log cake now!!!

2 significant events occurred since i last blogged: Dancepointe performance as well as today's exotic Belly Dancing.

DANCEPOINTE PERFORMANCE
The D-Day was the recent Wednesday. I had to pull myself up early in the morning around 7 just to wash up and meet the others to get on the chartered bus. Our hip hop group was really lame. haha...we entertained ourselves with hand and mouth games. At Victoria Theatre, the first rehearsal started, followed by a matinee and gala. Everything ended at 11pm. Though I did only 3 times of the dance item and practised our xen item a few times, I was shacked. I practically CRAWLED to bed.

Over the 2 days: rehearsal and D-Day, I feel the directors in Dancepointe are really bias. They favour ballet to hip-hop. Even their so-called jazz item somehow morphed into a ballet thing. During the rehearsal, time was tight and the management even suggested jackie to do away with the blocking for the hip-hoppers. Really, I feel it's unfair.

Anyway, I got a solo part which is girly hip-hop in the finale item to the song Move Shake Drop. Yay!! So let the pictures do the talking:

Snow White and the dwarfs

The mice helping Cinderella make her dress and the finale pose for that item. The array of costumes with Cinderella and the fairy godmother

These are The Little mermaid pictures. All the underwater creatures or rather 'darlings' since they are 5 to 6 yrs old kids. Octopus, sharks etc.

The wonderful effects of UV light on the costumes as well as a dance with Beauty and the Beast

(more pictures will be uploaded soon esp Jackie's proposallll hehe)

BELLY-DANCING EVENT
And so just now around evening time Dawn and I performed at Gek Poh Mall. Right from the start I knew this was not a good sign. A neighbourhood shopping mall especially in the west is filled with old people esp those cheeky old men and Bangalas. Just dont get why it has to be belly dancing.

We had a crash course the day before to learn this dance with a veil that is soooo irritating. Its thread were coming out and easily tangle with our costumes.

As we danced, I could hear comments from the audience. At the start, when we walked on stage, a could hear some kids saying EEEE..... and when we did the butt shimmy, the some went WA!! There were a couple of mistakes here and there. But most of them were committed by Dawn. hor hor....Dawn dawn ah, how can you forget your steps. :P

Overall, it was fine. And this malay girl came up to us and said, you all were pro. ha...oh well (in their eyes)

title: 1-5 Dec Genting Dance Exchange
date: Monday, December 08, 2008
time:10:41 AM
Came back from Genting on Friday afternoon. The trip was fine I must say as it was not as intensive as i expected it to be. There were only 2 workshops besides and competition and friendly dance concert. These 2 workshops are of a great difference: A wonderful contemporary lesson by Dance Horizon Singapore versus a dull one and a half hour of one of Malaysia's cultural dance. Time really passes slow though both were of equal duration.

Day 1:

Half of the day was to get to our destination. The trip was erm...stimulating. haha...cause the moment I reached Genting, I had to use the washroom. I shall not elaborate more...We had dinner after checking into our rooms. One word to describe the hotel is "spartan" minus the television which did not work that well. There were no brochures or toiletries provided.

Dinner and lunch were about the same I realise for over the 5 days. They were just rice, noodles, desserts etc. Breakfast was much better with crunchy CoCo Crunch and Honey Stars for me to eat. :P

Day 2 -Judging Day:
We got to rehearse for exactly 15 minutes on the stage that we will soon be competing in in the late afternoon. It was rather screwed. The girls were super tensed up and there were parts we were out of beat or not synchronised. Blah...3 hours were allocated for us to do our make-up and hair-do. Didnt like the whole look though with those uber pink cheeks, red lips and hair tied to the far left with a pink star pinned on.

I must say we were not in top form for the judging. Didnt know when or how did I become a nun, before we went on stage, I was chanting to the other girls to obey the 2 Ss: Slow and Smile.

Day 3:
A much light hearted day after for the stress gone from the previous day.
Morning started off with the gym followed by the sauna and steam room. It was my first time. haha..and i behaved like someone trapped in a fire. I wet a cloth provided and wrapped around my face. Like what one will do when you are trapped in such a blaze. haha...
Afterwards, there were workshops and friendly dance concert. Our make-up was pink and sliver AGAIN. This time we had on thick black eye liners instead of those irritating eye lashes that makes me tear.
After the concert, the girls were really high. I'm not sure why. We started taking pictures. If you look below, there is one really crazy shot. I really dont know what were they inspired by, they had on their hooded jackets and held one leg up. ha...

Day 4:
We will know our results at night so we had a fine time bowling, shopping, eating and walking. Bought several items at half price and nice anklets and earrings.
Finally, it was evening and got to know our results.

SILVER...
(I'm quite disappointed though... I think our dance practices are really too short and little. Shall have to work on this problem.)

Anyway, we got and ice-cream treat from our teacher. I got coffee and it was really bitter coffee. I guess I was feeling quite irritated by the results and had to get something to numb it.

Late at night was really happening though. Majority of us gathered in a room to watch ghost show on television. At the same time they played uno. I didnt join the game as i find the game boring. Oh well... Ha...but there were sure lots of screaming as the girls half covered their eyes and peeked to watch the grusome nurse popping here and there.

Day 5:
We had early breakfast and set for home....

It was an eye-opener for me as I got to see the different abilities of the other schools and they standards. Our school really have to buck up and learn to handle the stress at such times to attain higher results. I learnt quite abit, like the background of traditional and contemp dances.
