title: Working life sucks
date: Thursday, January 28, 2010
time:4:39 PM
It's been official a month since I started work and I firmly conclude that I do not like working life. I really cannot believe in about 4 to 5 years time, I will be back in this situation for good. Ahh...

Here are the cons about working:

First, unlike school which takes up only your mornings and abit of your afternoon, working like takes up practically your whole day. This means that there is less time for you to do your leisure activities (in this case for me is dancing).

Next, everyday, you go to work, you sit and get out of your seat during lunch and sit down again after your meal to work. I will not be surprised that more than half the working population have a flabby tummy.

Also, working life is so mundane. You just repeat everyday for who knows how many years as long as you stay in that firm. It really is much much much boring that going to school where you learn a variety of things and are much interesting.

Lastly, the office environment causes one to be more prone to illness. Since the area is permanently enclosed, the air is stale and dust flies everywhere. Once a person catches a flu, everyone will take turns falling sick. That sucks especially when I have to dance and have to keep sniffing to prevent those mucus from going all over the place.

Oh well...as of now I should be happy that I have not officially entered the horrendous and dreadful working society. Thus, I truly am looking forward to study again.

title: ACEKI salsa Compeition 2010
date: Sunday, January 24, 2010
time:9:24 PM
Phew! The dance marathon is kind of over for NOW. From what I can remember I had over 4 performance/competition spanning over a month. Thus the insane dance practice one after another. At least there is nothing ahead since the next event for xen will be the HongKong salsa congress which I am sadly not going. Almost the whole xen is going there. So I'll be emo-ing with Amanda in Singapore.

Today my feet was rather swollen as I by ballet shoes and usual dance shoes that I wore in xen to dance felt really tight. Ivy said it is due to too much dancing especially for the recent Friday's competition.

Let's back-track to Friday. It was one eventful day though. After work I went to xen to start preparing for the night's event. When Dawn told me to stretch before running though, I thought I could go down into a split easily. But instead of the usual crack that i will get while splitting, I felt my inner thigh muscle stretch. Must be that I overused it the night before during the rehearsal. There was major space constrain since all the mirrors were shifted to one side to make space for the venue.

As it got closer to the start of the competition, everyone was all dressed up looking so glamorous, glitzy, elegant... except Dawn and I who were in tank-tops and shorts. Such a sharp contrast. Since we were doing somewhat a reggae-salsa thing, we cannot afford to wear skirts. After that, I was busy cam-whoring away (says Dawn). But everyone was doing that too. And someone could not do it cause HER camera's memory was FULL. Hmmm... what does it mean. Am I more cam-whore than HER???

Anyway, I was expecting Baohui, her bf, Angela and Shuwen to come watch. Sadly Melissa could not come. Apparently even after I drew a map for them to follow, all of them went in the wrong direction. I think they walked from redhill to commonweath. But they did not missed the fun part of the competition though.

During the amateur round, Dawn and I totally screwed the item. haha... our split jumps were not in-sync and final pose sucked. Thus, it explained why we received second prize cause the champions who were supposedly dressed in some Tarzan theme had some big moves up their sleeves. But apart from that, there techniques were not clean enough and thee girl did not point her toes man!!! I wonder why they fared better.

Naturally in the open category where the competition ups another level, Dawn and I were determined not to win but to get a better video. And we managed to achieve that. We still got second (again) but won the jungle-themed couple and lost to Brenda and Libin who had a more kick-ass choreography.

Unfortunately the video ended just before we split since my camera when out of memory space. Hizz...

As for the prizes, Dawn and I each got 2 pairs of Titoban shoes (damn lousy) and $600 worth of clothes that could all be found in xen.

Well that's all for now. And I shall take the chance now to rest. I am having serious panda-rings round my eyes. Ah! I need sleep...

title: My 19th Birthday
date: Thursday, January 21, 2010
time:7:44 AM
Yesterday was unexpectedly really enjoyable. After the mundane work for 8 to 5, I meet up with my friends at Bugis. I went there with Sharry (rather coincidental) some of our classmates were going to celebrate her birthday too which is tomorrow. Thus, I managed to see some of the classmates.

Apart from the long half-an-hour wait at the control station, we were finally gathered in some restaurant. The food there was mediocre. The interesting part starts when Shuwen and angela noticed that I could order a free glass of iced milk tea. We were expecting just a one serving size. However... it came out to be this huge.

After wonderful Bao Hui filled all our nine glasses, there were still lots of leftovers. haha...

The next programme was Union. I managed to pull all of them to the place but in the end the guys didn't enter cause of the hefty $10 that they needed to pay. In the end, only the girls went in. I'm sure all of them got hooked to salsa especially Melissa. Angela and Mel managed to dance with a few guys. How about Shu?

I danced with quite a number of times which was rather surprising. haha..last time I had to be thick skin enough to ask. And yesterday I managed to be asked to dance. muhahaha...
Anyway, here are some pictures:

Wee... such a wonderful birthday!
PS: Thanks for all who wished me via sms, facebook or even in person (met quite a lot of people yesterday) and the for the presents too!

title: Birthday
date: Wednesday, January 20, 2010
time:12:43 AM
Yeah it is officially my nineteenth birthday and I am blogging at an absurd time of 1am in the morning. Yes! I feel that I'm ageing rapidly. Time passes sooo fast...

Just now at midnight my mum called from China to wish me happy birthday. Initially I thought it was irritating Potato calling be past twelve. Later on after I wake up from my sleep, it shall be an eventful and exciting day to look forward to.

After work, I will be having dinner with some friends at an Asian restaurant. After that it is partying time at Union. Dawn can finally go this time. :P

This cake is from my pre-birthday celebration with my family before mummy went to China.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!!

title: Looking forward
date: Friday, January 15, 2010
time:8:30 AM
Finally it is the weekends are here again. At least I don't have to wake up at 6.30 in the morning.

I realised that each week passes at the speed of light. Probably because I have activities from day to night.

Anyway, this is not the point for this entry.

The point is... NEXT WEEK IS MISS BUFFA'S BIRTHDAY!!!

Yeah! And it falls on Wednesday which is also union night. So after work will be meeting those crazy girlfriends of mine for dinner near Bugis before heading to union. Anyone interested to tag along?

Also, next week will be the salsa competition itself. I realised that Dawn and I did not even have a single proper practice except that impromptu one just before tango on Tuesday. I have to settle the male lead with her and we are almost done. Just left with polishing and training (wonder how many more times).

Mummy is going China over the next week. Sadly she can't buy be any salsa shoes since only Shanghai and Beijing have them. I'm sure they will be much much much cheaper than in Singapore. I want to go too but there is work. If not, I'll get to enjoy the snow since this year's winter is especially cold. :(

Yeah so anyone wants to go to Union next week to celebrate moi birthday. sms me :)

title: First week of 2010
date: Friday, January 08, 2010
time:12:59 PM
Today's a Friday and I am in the office slacking. Just came back from lunch and prior to that, I was surfing the Internet. To think I get paid while lazing away. Oh well.

Let me blog about the week:

Monday
First day of work but I wasn't that nervous. Just that I knew I was freezing away. The air-conditioner was sooo cold that day. The heavy rain was also the culprit. Did some lame self-study after the two-hour training session. Felt like I was mugging for some exams when I went through those sets of notes.
At night, I went to jacky's and danced to Get Sexy. Rather interesting choreo since we get to see him so his shake and body waves in such a girly way. haha... And yes, I got a wonderfully nice cool black shirt printed with gold words on it.

Tuesday
More studying since my boss was taking leave. But managed to clear most of my doubts about the millions of abbreviations like SMO, LO, GGWA etc. After that was xen. As usual I took isolations, tango and yq shine classes. tango was rather fun since we started to do close-contact where the couple have to lean against each other at the chest. It was much harder to follow since now you can't see but you have to feel. You know the FEEL-ING.

Wednesday
Nothing extraordinary happened at work, just that I did my first two agreements. So proud of myself. :) The highlight was at night! Union Square! Reached the place about nine plus with Rachel where it wasn't so crowded yet. As the night progressed, James was poking me to go ask some random guy whom he said was good. At first, I asked his girl friend beside so I had to wait for one song. And when it ended, I just threw my face away and asked him... Whoo, it was damn shiok. Of course there were the usual people like softie, bleach.

Thursday
Was at O school at night to take hh and lyrical hh. It was a killer. The teachers squeezed so many eights within an hour's of lesson. Gin's choreo was almost a minute plus and everyone could follow so closely. On the other hand, over at xen and Jacky's, the pace is much slower and students also don't get it as fast as in O school. Must really make a point to go there often to train my mind to react faster than the music. Stress!

In two weeks on the 22nd of this month, Dawn and I are partnering each other to compete in some in-house xen competition. Quite lame right, two girls dancing a couple dance with each other. Because xenbar lacks guys so greatly and most of them are still in their beginner levels. Keith! want to join?? haha If you are reading this. I'll know you'll say don't want lah. Going NS soon and you want to slack...

title: Job
date: Wednesday, January 06, 2010
time:8:21 AM
I'm now in the office early in the morning when many others are still sleeping away. Well, maybe not, since now school has officially start most students should be studying now.

Today's only my third day working and I am still undergoing training. Actually the word training is rather understated. I was given a two hour plus talk via the PowerPoint and for the next day, I was kind of self-studying straight for the next nine hours. It really sucks. Was almost bored out too since I didn't bring my phone yesterday.

Hopefully today I'll get to try out some real stuff at least so I can apply what I've learnt. And of course I've something to look out for tonight...UNION! YEAH! Wish Dawn could come too so I have company.

Wee...

PS. Now life has kind of sizzled out, everyday is work, dance, sleep. There is no extra time to do other things such as watching taiwan drama and slacking.

title: Jacky's wedding party
date: Saturday, January 02, 2010
time:11:47 PM
JACKY'S WEDDING PARTY

Today was such an eventful and tiring day right Dawn... :P Someone still say want to give up.

We crash course the two choreography and the battling thing within 2 hours man (just before the event commences). By the time the actual thing starts, I was really tired already. Luckily there were food and drinks so it at least helped replenish my energy a little bit.

First was the dance item and our costume was so obviously different from the rest. The others were just wearing pants and a t-shirt or tank top but we were wearing shorts, leg-warmers and gloves. It was sooo bitchy. ha...

Personally, I think the choreography wasn't impressive enough and there were hiccups here and there. But Dawn seemed satisfied with it saying she didn't care if we won cause she managed to get her wonderful video... (and I shall go DOTS...)

Anyway, the climax was the battling. We had to face off with 2 small girls. Literally small since one of them was like about 7 to 8 years old only. It's too embarrassing and bad to give them the attitude while dancing. So that round was rather mild. In fact, I felt like it was more of encouraging the 2 girls since we clapped for them in between.

Supposedly, the champion should be out but there was a tie which included us and another team with three people. This time we were more "diao" ha...was pretty fun especially the ahem part where both Dawn and I did those sexy, slutty moves right at the sole guy's face of the other team. ha...his facial expression was "why me??"

Yeah! We won the title "Jacky's best dance crew" or something like that. Pretty lame award and received a star shaped trophy.

Aww...stripey is sooo cute!

title: Countdown to 2010
date: Friday, January 01, 2010
time:12:02 PM
Last week was practically an everyday-go-to-xen week. It was in preparation for yesterday's dance item at Sambawang Countdown Party.

Upon reaching the place, we were greeted by a white tent crowded with more kids that adults. Over that, I saw the spirit of kiasuism among both children and adults. During alternate periods, someone will come out with a bunch of balloons to give out. The children would "chiong" towards the person and start jumping to reach for one. Parents who were supposed to control their children's outrageous behaviours, instead came forth to join in the snatching too... Oh what a sight!

Anyway, after some fire-breathing performances by some "zi-high" guys, it was almost our turn to do our hip-hop routine. Overall, the whole thing was pretty sweeet except one or two mistakes that I made.

Also, another significant thing was that after it passes midnight, it's Amanda's birthday. Cool right like first of January when everyone is celebrating it for you. Anyway, let the pictures do the talking.

This was everyone when we were eating dinner. Look at Dawn, see her wonderful expression haha.. and we have Amanda and Sara together as well as Emma and I-don't-know-who. Xenbar was rather peaceful and slient last night. Lots of the old xen peeps came to do reuda and stayed on after that.

Derrick and Felix were doing performances too at other places. Look at their glitzy costumes and make-up.
