title: Hip hop dance After watching these people strutting their stuff for the world to see and cliched something so prestigious, I sudden feel so small. Hip-hop is what I'm talking about. Their moves are so precise, fast and cool. How I wish I could be of the same calibre.
Although this is third place in the World Campionship, I think I like them best. Their costumes are attractive and flashy. Thus whenever they dance with coordination, we can see it quite obviously. And there is the CODA competitions. CODA is where the dancers will move differently at the same point of time. It could be 5 people facing to the back and another 5 facing front but they are dancing the same thing. Or it could be a group of them starting 4-eights beforehand while at the next group of dancers shall do the similar routine after that 4-eights. For this second effect, I like it better. Dawn and I tried doing it but the effect only looks good with a larger group of people. Appalling isn't it. They look so good. I want to be like that too .... |

title: I miss dance Time flies.
It's almost half a month since I blogged. Starting with Chinese New Year: This year was slightly more interesting than other years since I always relate CNY as a routine period of time where we go the same houses to do house-visiting. That's because there I have a new born girl cousin. ha.. spent most of the time playing with her. I like to swing her in the air and see her giggle. However, whenever my Dad sees it, he would stop me as he thinks I'm treating her like a doll, tossing her up and down. Up next is Dawn's and my chereo: We are going to start from scratch again, abandoning the bout' it chereo and doing another one. This time round we will be focusing on pure hip-hop. Meaning we will not inject jazz or SALSA into the 3-min dance. And it's going to be pure MANLY hip-hop unlike the girl hip-hop with numerous bodywaves or suductive looks and stares. ha... As for the teaching of hip-hop in xen, I think this plan has to be shelved aside for the time being till after A levels. But I have the urge to teach. Though I may not be professional, there is no harm in sharing the ideas you have to others, allowing others to learn your style of hip-hop. I think, for a person who don't even want to consider teaching in schools, but want to teach hip-hop so much is a miracle. ha...Cause everytime I think about me able to teach others, I tinkle inside.ha...IT'S THE PASSION I GUESS... This coming Tuesday, the release of the JAE postings. My confirm JC school shall be out in a few days time. I hope I can get into AJ and with Dawn in there too. Then we need not crack our heads about meeting up in xen or some place with a big mirror to dance and share. PRAY HARD. Also, there will be yz there too. And I think she's going for dance auditions too. Though she may be one that is sometimes to irritating or proud but it's nice to have someone farmiliar there too. Leio Hoi lent me over 7 dance movies over the weekends to watch like Take the Lead and Innocent Steps (korean). Most of them were Latin dance. After watching them, I think I'm beginning to fall in love with latin dance. The samba, rumba, cha-cha and paso doble are the 4 components. According to her from her coach, Samba originated from street performances where the poeple will dance to the festive mood just like the Chingay parade. As for Rumba, it's from the slaves where they dance while having something heavy on their heads. So in order to keep it from falling, they can only dance with their lower parts of their bodies so you will see that their moves revolves around their hips where it's flowy. For Paso Doble, it's about the bull and the red cloak. The bull is the guy while the cloak is the girl. Thus the dance is one that is intense and majestic. I'm not sure about cha-cha. Wow, this short paragraph almost deplicts the background of latin dancing. ha. And I remembered Yan Qing asking Dawn and I to do one like this for hip-hop. Dots. I'm like doing a research on something not pertaining to my dance genre. Wee... |
