title: the good n bad Tomorrow i'll be leaving Singapore..yay...wonder if it's good or bad.
The good: I get to enjoy the cool weather up in the mountain for a week. And good food too..ha...or rather a great variety of food since we will be having buffet everyday, thrice a week. One interesting thing is I can train my stamina. I didnt realise this until our dance teacher mentioned that it's hard to perform to the equal ability that we can in Genting as we are on higher altitude. The bad: I'll miss going to xen and therefore miss one to two practices to polish up the choreo that the four of us are doing. I will miss the shows on television. ahh... Wee... See you soon on Friday :P |

title: Wayang Dawn and Dionne have to go together or else we can not be at our peak...Oddly, I find this really true. Since most of the time or rather all the time I go out will be dance related, I have to be with Dawn or else I can't concentrate or perform my best in class. This dawns on me that with a good friend by your side, more importantly with an equal passion for something as you (though sometimes she pangsei me and keeps borrowing $$ from me), nothing can fear you. Being with her, I dare to make my moves go all out, leaving nothing behind. Also, I become really crazy...wild...always laughing and cracking jokes.
I bet people in school or elsewhere will never see me behaving like that. I mean imagine me dancing, jumping in front of you, you'll think "This girl is so show-off...so what if she can dance, must she do it here??" Therefore, I act with caution. Anyway, today I was made the model for the teacher to put on the make-up which we are supposed to follow during our performance in Genting. I have to say, initially, it was looking good, with the foundation and the lovely thick and curly eye lashes. However, I didnt get to see how i looked like after that and got a shock of my life when the teacher was done. How did I look?? Just like a chinese opera singer that you see at your house downstairs. Just a slightly milder version of it. Horrendous!!! Thus, the make-up for the friendly dance shall be decided by me. I tried it on myself just now so I can do the same tomor to show the other girls. It's really COOL hehe... 1) Black liquid eye liner to draw thickly over your double eye lid 2) Black eye shadow apply above the liner 3) Greyish-silver to blend at the toppest 4) Sliver shadow to apply over the ends of the eyes 5) Sliver glitter splash liner to trace the ends 6) Finish off with lip gloss There! Love the outcome. Hizz...my poor face has been tortured. Have to put mask on later to pamper it. haha Wee... |

title: Ipod hooked Think I'm hooked...hooked to my ipod.
Yesterday I decided not to bring my ipod out since i wanted to lessen the load in my bag. In exchange I brought some notes to revise during the ride to dance class. Sadly, I felt wierd like something's seriously missing. I had to listen to music. Arhh...I'm morphing into those who plug in whenever and whereever they are. At least, i'm selective. I only listen to songs that I can dance to. So I will visualise the moves in my mind as i enjoy the music. After satisfying my need to listen (or rather dance), I can put it away and continue with my revision. ha... Next week, I'll be "bussing" to Genting. The ride is really long and irritating. That is why I will always tell my mum never to go to Genting again. It's for an International Dance Competition and we will be representing JJ. Dont know if it's good or bad: We are the only junior college level student participating so naturally, others will asume that being the oldest, you will be the best. But I doubt we are at that standard yet. Nevertheless, there will be 3 dance workshops held on a single day. Heard that we get to choose the genre that they offer. So far, we do not know what will the genres be. Hopefully there's any of these: hip-hop, jazz (not contemp), lyrical hip-hop, salsa, girly hip-hop, rumba or tango. As you can see, I practically hope that this is a hip-hop workshop. Cant help it. I love this genre. Today, we meant to have dance practise. The teacher FORGOT that there is lesson. Really, this is the first time I see a teacher who is late for all sessions and can even let a sch's dance prac slip off her mind. Such irresponsibility. Furthermore, her choreography is always the "I'm feeling so tired that my limbs are soft". At least, there should be moves that have been injected with life and energy. Wonder when we could get a change of teacher. Wee... |

title: Day 2 at greenridge DAY 2 at greenridge sec
![]() Morning didn't start right. I was caught in the peak hour traffic jam the right from the bus-stop at my house. It took me more than 30 minutes just to get to boon lay station. And when i reached there, it was 15 minutes to the reporting time at the school. To think I still had to take the train to CCK followed by 6 stops of the LRT. Hmph... Unfortunately, Dawn has to take the class herself since I was late. According to her, with her morning depression going on, the class was in the similar mood as well. The 3 sessions we had were really random. In our first hour, we were supposed to teach hip-hop. In the end, we spent half the time for hh and the other for lyrical. Everyone was slightly bored. Cant be help though. They didn't want to learn new steps nor did they look forward to polishing the moves. The second session, we did reggae and this time we both polish and teach new moves. One of the funniest part in reggae was the "step-hop to the front" move (yq specialty) where majority of them could not get it. It turned out to be a stampede. This stampede had scared many people. haha...the greenridge band members who had to enter the room to store their instruments and the cameraman during their finale performance. After lunch we had our last session before the showcase. We ran through the 3 dances numerous times trying to get them to move neatly during the transitions to each song. With nothing else to do, we made everyone to get into a circle and pull them out to freestyle in groups or as an individual. Some of them we sporting though reluctant initially. There were a couple of entertaining ones and some super cool ones. This Jurong sec senior pulled her juniors along and asked them to follow her steps. Ha...it made the crowd roar with laughter with all those super funny moves. There were 2 super cool ones: a malay girl just freestyle with superbly high energy. Dawn and I were like WA.. COOl MAN. And of course there was a breaker guy who in came up to do his moves. WOW... it was quite scary though. He seem to be challenging the Jurong sec guys. It was like some showdown session. Everything ended with Bianca doing her moves to the music LOW. And it was SHOWCASE TIME. I'll try uploading the video again. Everything ended with photo taking. So here's the pics: ![]() This is with Assumption English Secondary ![]() Together with Jurong Secondary ![]() ![]() ![]() 3 other schools which I can't identify. Chestnut Drive, Zhenghua and... This is my first experience teaching such a big group for 2 days. Felt it was really enriching although it was quite irritating at times. Will miss the fun ha... Wee... |

title: Greenridge sec dance camp Today's DAY 1 of the dance class at Greenridge Sec.
It was hmm...throating-torturing. The school is cool. They have rooms that have ample space to twirl and dance. Sadly, only one studio has a mirror. Thus, Dawn and I decided to merge Hiphop class. The Lindy Hop and Belly Dance classes just have to do without the mirror. Though we had the advantage of the mirrors, our group size is up to 40 to 50. One has to know the basics of crowd control to tame the noise of the Sec 1 to 3 students. We taught 3 dances: Hip hop -Goodfoot, Lyrical Hiphop -Can't help but wait and Raggae -Gasolina. The first 2 dances were one after another and when I was teaching, I had to shout on top of the other vocies to be heard. I think after tomor, i might lose my voice. One thing cool is that when i taught lyrical, I had a way of describing my moves. So here it is (see if you can imagine what are the moves as you read the words): I see you you and him da-da vomit da-da cho-cho-train forgive slow slow fast fast fast with those tears running down your cheeks what can i do swim step step cause deep down i'm still a G right and right Left and left da da da zoom one two out in out in zoom.... ha...this practicall spells out the whole of the choreo minus a little bit after that. Finally, there was a break and we had cakes. By then I was hungry stiff. Having not eaten anything since morning untill like 4pm...My gastric was workin on me by then. We munched down pandan cakes, marble cakes, banana cakes, chocolate cakes... ha. Not that many lah. And it was Dawn who taught most of the raggae. Though both of us consider raggae the least interesting genre, the students were especially hyped up. Everytime she finished teaching the shimmy, or the krump, or some body rotation, they will go hehehe-hahaha. After that, we add on the face-to-face showdown where we had to pull them up to dance. In the end, everyone was cooperative and started dancing. By then, it was the end of the class, majority of them were screaming, yelling, etc... We ran through the 3 dances again and called it a day. Phew! DAY 1 is officially over. But we have tomor. The students will have to do a mini performances tomorrow. ha.. and we get to see the fruits of our labour. Should take some pictures tomorrow and keep as memory. :) Wee... |

title: OP It's been a week since i tore my ligament on my inner right thigh. And it has improved but not fully. Now whenever i try to do a split with one leg in the air, i dare not push all the way lest it tears again.
Ironically, my left lef split is relatively better than my right. This sucks. Moral of the story is never ever tear ur muscle or else ur splits get worse. Next week will be this eventful programme where dawn and i will be going down to some secondary sch to teach 2 hip hop choreos. It's this arts appreciation 2 day programme so we each will have to clock 8 hrs in 2 days. Imagine each of us has to teach a class of forty on our own. Sounds intimidating right? Nevertheless, there will be rewards, ha...cash OOOOO Also, after like 3 yrs, we are finally taking our basic salsa exam. Though the sound of it seems as though it's an easy peasy task. But basic is really the ground fundamentals. Wonder what will scary yq test us. We have the 50 guidelines to help us but in times so stress, how can one recall each. Hizzz...didnt get shortlisted for the audition thing that we did in xen. Dawn did. Sad. I guess it is because that day she did both jazz and hip hop, thus she edge over the rest. Goodbye $500-$600.... Today, my Oral Presentation has ended and by tomorrow after I have handed in my InR, it is officially the end of my Project Work. Our group meant to get our results slips immidiately after the OP. Sadly, only Jian Yun was able to get hers. The remanining 3 of us had some typo error in our report slips so we could not get it back. In the end, the admin guy just told us if we got promoted or not. I want to see the details of the slip. argh... My reflections: My OP performance today in my opinion was slightly better than expected. Esp the QnA, during the last aka second rehearsal, Mr tan asked some killer question which got me only a bare ME or even AE grade. Therefore, i wasn't confident if i can answer propoerly on the actual day. Also, during the presentation, my wireless thing didnt work and i had to stand by my laptop to press the button. So unlucky. And after me was jian yun who activated it again. hizzz. I think i was shivering as i was speaking. Wee... |
