title: Sublime Finally the whole SBDC thing has come to an end.Last night was the semi finals at Jurong Point.
For sublime, our theme this time was Tamil and the puppets. So the rest of us dressed like dolls with tutu dresses and had on this Gothic look. The teams who went into this round were really good. Some of them used the same music but improvised on the moves. Some of them came up with fresh ideas and even their costumes were really nice. In my opinion, not trying to offend anyone, ours weren't as impactful. According to my parents, an audience point of view (ones that have no dance experience at all), felt that our item was way to monotonous. Plus, there were lots of crab-walks in our dance. Our comments were rather neutral as a result. Cause our dance is pretty irrelevant. It has hip hop moves in it but somehow the outcome seemed bollywoodish and jazzy. The judges did not know how to comment due to the uniqueness of the dance. Thus, they end up talking about the UFO stunt and the prop (chair) which was flung to one side of the stage during the dance. Oh well, this was an experience for me though. But next time if I were to join a competition again, I would think twice cause a competition is different from a performance. Especially in the genre or hip-hop, the audience do not look out for big moves. They look out for synchronisation and heavy-beat musics. Of course, big moves give us a plus point. But over-doing it is not the way to go. Wee...bachata competition is the next obstacle |
